The word "pain" comes from the Latin "poena" meaning a fine, a penalty.
What is Pain?
Pain is a symptom of some physical hurt or disorder; "the patient developed severe pain and distension"
Some of the Effects of Pain:
Symptoms accompanying your pain : nausea, headache, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, constipation, diarrhea, perspiration.
Emotional effects : anger, depression, crying, mood swings, irritability, suicidal feelings.
Lifestyle changes : work, recreation, interpersonal relationships, ability to get around, self-care activities.
Treatment
Analgesics usually relieve pain. Ice on the pain location may reduce discomfort and inflammation. Emotional support for accompanying anxiety is often effective in distracting the individual until the temporary discomfort subsides.
Types of pain :
It is useful to distinguish between two basic types acute pain and chronic pain.
